How does a chip key work?
AND
Why is it a good idea to        have a spare one?

Your key has a transponder chip embedded in the head. This chip contains specific data. Your car has computer modules that need to read and then determine if that data is correct.

When you insert your key and turn it on a transceiver (antenna) around the ignition will power up and send a signal to the transponder chip in your key. Then that transponder chip will send a signal back to the transceiver.
That information is sent to different computers in the car. The BCM-(Body control module), The ECM -(Engine control module), and the immobilizer unit. If the coded information is recognized by all of the computers then they will allow the car to start. If your key is not recognized then your car will not start.

WHY IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A SPARE CHIP KEY?
It is easier to copy from an existing key. Your existing key allows us to gain security access to your car. Without an existing key it is more expensive and takes more time as special programmers need to be used.
The cost is less if there is a key to copy from. On many vehicles we can clone your exisiting key or use it to gain security access to do a spare!

We can program keys to your car with our special equipment. We can do chip keys, Flip keys, Remote head keys, Prox keys (known as push to start keys). This programming can be done for ALL KEYS LOST and duplicates.

We do most makes and models.
Chevy, GMC, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Chrysler, Dodge, Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infiniti, and more!
